Accessory Statement: RINGS

You know when you're hungry, but you're not sure what to eat? "Do I want chocolate, something salty, something healthy?" You know you want something but you can't decide... Then you feel lazy- I don't want to make it, I don't want to order it/pick it up etc...

Those moods can take place with your closet as well. And when it happens- you can have a quick, safe plan that will totally cure your craving: rings.

So much better than buying a bunch of new clothes you'll be over in a hot minute. Cool-girl rings come in all shapes, sizes and price points! Vintage, contemporary, inexpensive... pile them on, you don't need to just wear one at a time. Mix and match metals, width, length and price points. (PS the CPW is out of control, unless they may start turning your finger green) a tip? buy an inexpensive style you are on the fence about, and if you fall in love, make it your life mission to find a contemporary, higher quality model.

LA Market: the georgette

Day 3 of LA MARKET: the georgette

You've heard me talk about jumpers before... and my love for them... but I know half of you will stop reading here because its not your thing. You're not into it, you think you can't pull it off, you're too short, blah blah blah....
If there's every a jumper to try, its this one. Its actually designed to be either worn with flats, or to wear with platforms/wedges, with the flare being a little cropped, letting that true 70's inspiration come through.

It comes with the soft, silk-like feather-printed belt, but feel free to switch out and make it your own. Since its a v-neck and cinches at the waist, it flatters everyone. And petite girl, my adorable sister-in-law also rocked this jumper - in all of her 5'2'' goodness. She looked smashing. No more excuses. Its waiting for you..

LA MARKET: the campbell

So its a little delay in LA Market land...

Day 2 of LA Market: the Campbell.

Since length is still so strong for Spring, leave it to BB Dakota to make a fantastic long maxi cardigan, or "duster" whichever you'd like to call it - its fantastic. And it goes with everything! wear it now with your skinnies while the weather is a little cooler... transition it to the warmer months with your cut-off's and flat sandals. pair it with screen prints or solid, loose tee's and tanks... accessorize it, or let it speak for itself. You can even button it up and belt it, and wear it like a dress. It also comes in light cream. Go by now. You won't be disappointed.

LA Market: the Calista

It happens 5 times a year... the wonderful, fabulous LA Market! (depending on your definitions of wonderful and fabulous that is) Regardless, it is a time of fresh season, fun buyers, and floors upon floors of clothes.

During the week of Market, I am always sure to be in "buy now, wear now" clothes... meaning, the buyers see it on, they see its in the spring delivery thats shipping now, and BOOM! they have to have it in their store this second!! doesn't always work like that, but I like to think it does. With that said... here are some fabulous BB Dakota pieces that can be worn now for spring- one day of market at a time. Never mind that it might be much cooler where you are located, it is more to inspire you by giving you the freedom not to wear your tall, flat boots every day anymore. Time to mix it up, layer pieces, and feel fresh as the new season: Spring!

Wear your spring maxi's!! and if you love the Calista you can buy it at, shop bop, revolve and of course BB Dakota

I have nothing to wear

Its January! Happy New Year!! Fresh start! Holidays are over, and you are ready to move on!!! ...and as you start this new, fresh year, you stare at your closet and you think, "I have nothing to wear." Nothing. Blah, Blah, Blah. You have these same, boring clothes forever. Ew to your closet.

You silly girl, you have plenty to wear!!! and yes, this is much as a pep talk for me as it is for you. To help bring us some inspiration, I took what every girl has in her closet: its the little _____ dress. Its close to knee length, it has sleeves, its solid, and its most likely black. If for some odd reason you do not have something like this, get the below from Nasty Gal $48 Dress.

Below are 4 examples of our every day lifestyles. Whether you're a mom, a career girl, running errands, or going to a casual dinner party, this dress is for you. The possibilities are endless. And this is the game, sweet friends, that we must play with ourselves. we cannot loose our inspiration. We will not put new things on the credit cards we just paid off. The fun is over ladies. Time to buckle up, and work with the items you have (because, you have MORE than enough in that closet of yours!!)

One dress... so many ways to wear it:

Preppy Cool

Perfect for running errands, for a casual weekend event, and if your job allows - what a cute work outfit!! This is a perfect transition into spring (especially with this 70 degree Cali wheather we're having!!) Remember those peeped toed boots and floppy hat you bought for fall? Bring that back out to transition it into spring. Pair it with lighter colors to give the spring edge  It can easily be paired with tights and heavier layering pieces - but don't forget to keep the colors strong and/or bright. Black and grey won't give us the spring energy we need.

Working Girl
You know who you are - you're young and in your 20's/30's - so dress like it! pair your designer bag with your $48 dress. Keep those nails nicely manicured in a bright, spring color, throw on the blazer for professionalism, and most importantly, don't apologize for bringing color and youthfulness into the office. You are professional and work hard with every task; because of your strong work ethic you have permission to wear other things other than black and grey suits. You can have the best of both worlds, but do so wisely. In doing this, you will be the envy of all those who wish they were bold enough to do the same.

Play Date
Hey moms, yes, your kids are adorable, and they have the wardrobe and accessories to prove it! Do you forget that you need a great wardrobe and accessories too?! I know, the sacrificial part of you is always giving to your adorable toddlers and family.  But there are countless moms out there who look better than I do!! So do not give in to giving up. Dig deeper into your closet, and pull out the clothes you haven't worn in a while. Layer this turtleneck under the dress for a comfy cuteness. Pair the leggings underneath with the easy, flat boots (completely appropriate) Lastly, throw on the bright colored cardigan - and don't forget to roll the sleeves - you'll look effortless with your minimal accessories -not to mention this adorable diaper bag!! the perfect, fashionable outfit for chasing around that irresistible rug rat of yours.

Aztec Chic
Alas, you cool girl. You are the one with the shopping problem because everything looks good on you - how can you not buy it?! Pull that dress out and make the dress edgier and different by pairing the Aztec print on top the dress, with the illusion of an a-line skirt underneath. Pile on the accessories (you can never had too much) grab your go-to fringe bag, lace up the wedged booties and you are set my cool, aztec friend. Getting ready in 15 minutes is fine for you because the high bun and minimal make up is just the look you were going for. Whatever.

So my dear friends, play the game with yourself: never wear the same outfit twice. If you want to view any of these pieces individually on where to find them (for later on if necessary) you can do so at my polyvore link. Your wardrobe will feel endless in this much needed January funk. Play with what you have - and whatever you do, do not utter the infamous "I have nothing to wear" words... because, clearly, you do.
